Meet DJ BlackWoman
Hi!
I’m Nia, aka DJ BlackWoman, a self-taught DJ from Oakland, CA with an undeniable passion for music. Growing up immersed in hip-hop, R&B, reggae, and Afro beats, my love for sound and rhythm started early—beginning African dance at just 2 years old.
In 2018, my journey changed forever when I witnessed DJ Mannie Fresh live at Hiero Day. I felt an overwhelming rush of inspiration and knew right then: I wanted to DJ. By late 2021, I finally took the leap, got my first controller, and never looked back.
My Sound & Style
Rooted in Oakland and West Coast influences, my DJ sets are versatile, high-energy, and always cohesive. Whether spinning at a festival, club, or private event, I take pride in curating the perfect vibe—reading the crowd, setting the mood, and keeping the energy alive.
Experience & Collaborations
I’ve had the honor of DJing for major festivals like Hiero Day, Oaktoberfest, and Art & Soul Festival, as well as working with artists like Mistah Fab, Adrian Marcel, and YoYo.
